Principal's Message

Dear Oak Hills Families, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new principal of Oak Hills Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year.  I have heard so many incredible things about the school, community, faculty, and staff and feel honored to be part of it.    Here are a few things about me:  I have 3 amazing kids that I love spending time with. My son is 20 and loves to ride motorcycles.  My oldest daughter is a senior in high school this year and lives to play softball.  My youngest daughter will be in 7th grade and is looking forward to the junior high experience.  As a family, we love vacations and finding new adventures.  One of our favorites was riding the Hiawatha Trail together. Prior to Oak Hills, I have been at 10 different schools and have found that each is unique in both their strengths and needs.  I am looking forward to getting to know more about the amazing things that have been part of the Oak Hills legacy and learning how to best support the future success of every student. I believe that every child can learn and that the goal of education should be to build students socially, emotionally, and academically.  Prior to administration and instructional coaching, I spent 17 years in the classroom and loved every minute of it.  Few things are quite as rewarding as seeing a child’s eyes light up as they learn something new and make progress.  One of the privileges of working in education is that we have the opportunity to support you as parents to help your child grow and learn essential skills.  I believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success.  I am committed to working with you to ensure that your child has a positive and productive school experience. I welcome open communication and invite you to email or call anytime.  Please enjoy the rest of your summer break! I look forward to meeting you soon. Sincerely, Ms. Cynthia Palmer Oak Hills Elementary Principal cbleicher@dsdmail.net 801-402-1650
